Android: Video plays in the background with error message.

Symptoms

Since PMS 0.9.17 to PMS 1.0.0, channel/video plays in the background with an error message:

Can’t Play Video

Cause

Settings->Video->Device supports Dolby Digital is not enabled. Device might not support AC3.

PMS isn’t trancoding AC3.

 

Resolution

Check/Enable Settings->Video->Device supports Dolby Digital.

If channel/video plays without audio, device doesn’t support AC3. Download and install VLC for Android. Check/Enable Settings->Advanced->Player->Use External Player. When attempting to play channel/video, a open with pop up will appear, use VLC for Android.
